Cap graft

Graft placed on the tip of the nose to increase tip definition and give more projection (increased nasal length). This is usually made from septal cartilage.

A cap graft is a small cartilage graft placed over the tip-defining points of the nose. It is used to add shape, smooth minor irregularities, and create a more defined tip contour. Depending on the patient’s anatomy, it may also provide a modest increase in projection or help improve symmetry between the two sides of the nasal tip.

Cap grafts are commonly made from septal cartilage because it is usually firm, smooth, and easy to shape. Ear cartilage may be considered when septal cartilage is limited or when a softer, more curved graft is preferred. The graft is trimmed to fit the tip and placed carefully so its edges blend into the surrounding cartilage instead of creating a visible or sharp outline.
